Tour Through Blogland

I am honored to have been invited by Ashley Presley from Our Temporary Home to participate in this Tour Through Blogland.

If you have not checked out her blog you really should I absolutely love her reason behind her name.  Find out why she loves the name on her about us page.

What am I working on?

Right now I am trying to get caught up and finish quite a few different projects.  I am currently creating a height measurement board to hang in my daughter’s room, trying to finish her room (1 1/2 years later than it should have been completed), a post on great ways to create memories with your kids and writing a post about my son’s awesome pirate birthday party.  Here are some sneak peaks at the posts.  Sorry some of the pictures are not great but I promise better pictures with the posts.

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Well this is a difficult question for me to answer.  I believe that my background is what makes my blog different.  Yes I am a mom and a teacher and that is something that I see in lots of great blogs but for me I am an art teacher, learning disabilities teacher, and a mom who loves photography, family, art, crafts, saving money and so much more.  There is so many things that I want to write about that I just have not gotten a chance to yet.  I can’t wait to share more lesson plans and tips for teaching our kids who are struggling.

Why do I write/create what I do?

I write about what I love and I hope that it shows.  To be honest I write for 2 reasons one being that it is neat to have this to share with my kids when they get older and the other because it is my hope that I can someday make some money from the blog and stay home with my kids longer than planned.  While I know I would love teaching I really want to be able to be involved in my kids classrooms and do more for them than I would be able to if I was teaching.  I create things for a few different reasons as well.  One, I love to create things.  Two, sometimes it is out of necessity.  We have chosen for me to stay at home while are children are young and now we are living on one income, so I need to be creative sometimes.

How does your writing/creating process work?

Well this is something I am still working on.  I hate to admit it but even though I have been working really hard on spending time with my kids I spent too much time on the computer.  Mikie has now started preschool, I have been struggling to get my computer just to work and with that I am starting all over to figure out a new schedule.  My dream would be to wake up at 5 and work until 6:45.  Then work again from 11 to 1 while Adi is sleeping.  And then again from 9:30 to 10:30.  For me I have a long list of things I want to create and write about.  This is hard for me because I want to create and write about all of these things now.  And now I am going to be crazy and share a picture of my desk area where I do all of my writing and not much of the creating.  It is messy but real.

Next Week’s Bloggers

Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me and my little blog.  I have been having some issues with my computer and have had a heck of a time trying to figure out what it was.  So, way too much of my time has been wrapped up into just trying to make my computer function right.  Because of my computer issues I was unable to contact many bloggers about participating in this tour through blogland.  I did find one great blog that I was able to contact that wanted to participate so without further ado it is now it’s time for me to introduce them.  Be sure to check out these creative and talented ladies anytime but their tour will be on their blog on Monday September 22nd.

This great blog is actually created by a sister blogging team.  Sierra and Faith blog over at Winks and Eyerolls.  There you can find fun fashion tips, delicious recipes, DIY projects, random topics, and a journey through parenthood as a first time mom.

They have written a post with a great question Nap Time – When is on nap appropriate?  I do think that this is a question any first time mom has and would love it if you would stop over and let them know your experience with this.
