The Mummy Tag
I’m always up for a meme. They’re a fun way to share thoughts and answer some pretty random questions. Thanks to Tilly’s Mummy, over at beingtillysmummy.co.uk for the tag here!

Are you a stay-at-home or a working Mum?
I’m currently a stay-at-home Mum, as I’ve been on maternity leave since the start of February. I’m usually a working Mum though. Even on my maternity leave, I can’t just sit around so I fill my time with blogging!
Would you have it any other way?
In all honesty, I’d love to be a work-at-home Mum. As I just said, I can’t -not- work. I like to contribute to the cost of the household, but I wouldn’t be able to justify paying for my monthly nail appointment if I didn’t earn some pennies! I do love to work, but I’m really enjoying being a Mummy. It’s all I’ve ever really wanted to be. I love the school run, I love spending time with my boys. If I could have it both ways, I would.
Do you co-sleep?
In a word, No. I’ve never really looked into it, as we’ve never had any problems with the sleeping arrangements we’ve had. Moses basket at the bedside, to cot, to cot bed, to single bed for O, and that’s the route we’re taking with Q now too. It works for us, and we’ve never had a need for either child to sleep in our bed (thus far). If it works for others, great, but I can barely get a good nights’ sleep with hubs in the bed – never mind a child!
My Newborn must-have?
It’s not really something you can buy… I’d say your must-have with a newborn is stamina. Patience is a close second as the constant crying, especially during bouts of colic, can be extremely testing. Essentially, stamina is the top of the list because you will never know tiredness like it. I thought I was tired when I had my first baby, but when you add a second into the mix it’s a whole different ball game. As one falls asleep, the other is waking up. It’s the law of s*d…
How many kids do you plan on having?
Having just had our second baby three months ago, I’m not really sure on this one! I’d like to think we’d have another… I don’t know. We shall see how the first year or so pans out as parents of two!
Date Night – How often?
Before Q came along, we used to have a date night quite regularly. Since Q arrived, our priorities have shifted and we tend to stick to a routine and stay home most of the time. We haven’t actually been out for dinner just the two of us yet… Maybe one day! I’m expressing milk every now and again so have built up a little supply in the freezer for any brave soul wishing to babysit for us! I’m in no rush though. I’m enjoying our time with a little baby, as I know too well he won’t stay small for long.
What’s your child’s favourite TV show?
Q is a bit young for the television yet! I honestly couldn’t tell you what O’s favourite show is… as it changes all the time! He’s quite fond of PJ Masks, Doc McStuffins and The Lion Guard that play on Disney Junior at the moment. He also really likes Paw Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines and Wallykazam! on Nick Junior. Swashbuckle on cBeebies remains a fave too!
What’s one thing you bought for your newborn and never used?
When I had O, I bought literally everything. During my pregnancy, I had gone completely overboard buying clothes for him in sizes Newborn and 0-3 months. What a mistake. He was born weighing a hefty 9lb 12oz and far too big for any of the Newborn clothes I had bought. Coupled with the rapid growth of a new baby, the 0-3 month clothes lasted until he was around 6 weeks old. I gave away so many brand new clothes with tags, it pains me. Needless to say, I didn’t make the same mistake when Q was born!
Child’s favourite food?
Easy. 1) Pizza. 2) Chocolate. 3) Pasta.
How many cars does your family have?
We have two cars. A Vauxhall Insignia and a Seat Ibiza Toca. My car is really the Ibiza but, as it’s only got three doors, we have swapped whilst I’m at home with Q. Getting a baby and car seat into the back of a small car with only doors to the front is not easy. I prefer easy.
Weight Gain – Before, During and After Pregnancy
Erm, I’m not sure what you want me to say here. I was a healthy weight before pregnancy, I put on weight due to pregnancy, I lost weight after pregnancy… Generally what happens when a baby, a bag full of water and a placenta leaves. I’m not back down to my pre-pregnancy size yet. I’ll need to get back to the gym and stop eating so much chocolate for that to happen. My pre-pregnancy jeans fit, albeit not all that comfortably, so I’m not too worried. As I’ve said earlier, I’m happy to enjoy my baby rather than stress about losing a stone.
What’s your dream family holiday?
We’ve been to Turkey a couple of times, Lanzarote and Spain as a family. Hubs and I have travelled to Majorca and Las Vegas. We’re off to Majorca this August for Q’s first holiday abroad which should be awesome. Our dream family holiday would probably be Disney World, Orlando. O keeps saying he’s going to Disney World when he’s six… I’d best start saving!
What’s your dream holiday without the kids?
I’d absolutely love to visit the Maldives. Oh wait, Dubai. No, Jamaica. My list is too long.
How has life changed since having kids?
Completely. We lived a very spontaneous lifestyle before O came along. We would decide to dine out or go to the cinema, or away for the weekend, at the drop of a hat. Life has changed as that just isn’t possible anymore. Yes, we could do all of those things if we wanted to with the kids, but not without. To do anything without the kids requires the organisation of a legend.
Finish the sentence – It makes my heart melt when…
…O says “I love you Mummy”.
Where do I shop for my kids?
George at Asda, H&M, Next.
What’s your favourite makeup and skincare?
I use a Garnier BB Cream and under eye concealer that are just awesome. I have used Nivea facial wipes for ages now too – they’re really good and don’t dry my skin out.
Huggies or Pampers
Pampers. Never actually tried Huggies nappies though.
Have you always wanted kids?
Best thing about being a Mum?
