People ask me everyday what was the strongest product that I have taken to lose weight the fastest. I took Prothinspo’s Hydroxylim/

diet products.This study set out to determine the efficacy of a calcium/potassium salt of 60% HCA extract from Garcinia cambogia

human volunteers. I know blah blah, but  In a double-blind fashion,
60 moderately obese individuals were randomly assigned to three
groups.
Group 1 received just calcium/potassium salt of 60% HCA extract from Garcinia cambogia.
Group 2 received the Garcinia cambogia extract, chromium polynicotinate, and Gymnema sylvestre extract.
Group 3 received a placebo. All subjects received a 2000 kcal/day diet, participated in supervised walking five times per week, and
took their assigned test supplements 3 times daily, 30 to 60 minutes before meals.
Test measurements were then performed throughout the study, evaluating changes in bodyweight, body mass index (BMI), appetite,
blood lipids, and markers of fat oxidation.
After 8 weeks,
Group 1 lost an average of 10 pounds, Group 2 lost 12.54 pounds, and the placebo group lost 3.53 pounds. At 8 weeks,
both Group 1 and 2 were found to have lost significantly more weight than the placebo group. A reduction in appetite was also
demonstrated in both Group 1 and 2. In addition, both Group 1 and 2 showed a significant increase in indicators of fat breakdown. It
was concluded that supplementation with the combination of (-)– hydroxycitric acid (HCA-SX), niacin-bound chromium, and Gymnema
Sylvestre Extract can help people with weight management.

The next study was an 8 week study….In this 8-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human trial, 30 moderately obese
subjects were divided into three groups. Group 1 received just the calcium/potassium salt of 60% HCA extract from Garcinia
cambogia. Group 2 received Garcinia cambogia extract, chromium polynicotinate, and Gymnema sylvestre extract. Group 3 received
a placebo. All subjects were placed on a 2000 kcal/day diet; ingested the assigned test supplements 3 times daily, 30 to 60 minutes
prior to meals; and participated in supervised walking five times per week. At the end of 8 weeks, Group 1 lost, on average, 12.1
pounds. Group 2 lost, on average, 14.99 pounds. Group 3 lost, on average, 3.06 pounds. At the end of the study period, weight-loss
values in both Group 1 and Group 2 were significantly greater than in the placebo group. Moreover, the placebo group showed a slight
increase in food consumption, while the HCA groups both showed a significant reduction in appetite compared to placebo. Based on
the results from this study, it was concluded that the unique HCA extract used in this trial, either alone or in combination with
Gymnema Sylvestre Extract and niacin-bound chromium, is effective in helping control appetite, increase fat oxidation, and promote
weight loss.

How to Do a Juice Fast
Learning how to juice fast is an effective way to accomplish several things, but juice fasting with a purpose
will target the best attributes of a juice fast and give you the results you are looking for. One might
consider a juice fast for weight loss- perhaps you have tried different diets and failed, or maybe you are
looking to drop a little bit of weight and begin to eat healthier and need a quick solution.

Regardless of the reasoning behind a juice fast, the goal is to understand your body, attenuate your
physiology to your psychology (get your body connected to your mind), and work towards the goals you
have set for yourself.

*Important note: A juice fast is potentially dangerous if taken to the extreme, or not done in a prudent
manner.  Read the safety of juice fasting first. The human body has minimum requirements, and your
health may be compromised if you don’t pay attention to the signals your body is giving you and respond

The Science Behind: Understanding Hunger

Appetite is controlled by the brain in a specialized area called the satiety center located in the
hypothalamus.

The hypothalamus affects hunger by:

•Using the light of day to determine your normal body rhythms, and determine when you should be hungry
physiologically.
•Olfactory stimuli: Smell freshly baked bread and you want some. Smell rotting garbage, however and you
will not be as enticed to eat it.
•Natural Steroidal activity within the body: In general steroids are catabolic meaning they encourage
growth, so it makes sense they would stimulate you to crave the nutrients required to build new cells. This
is the underlying link between stress and obesity.
•Neurally transmitted information: originating in places like the heart and stomach which tell the brain that
you are ready to eat, the interconnected system from your senses will help to determine by inputs from
your eyes, ears, mouth and nose, that you need to start preparing your body to eat (i.e. making enzymes
to digest food, etc.)
•Blood-borne chemicals including insulin and leptin, also glucose: bio-regulation or homeostasis keeps us
running regularly but when we are out of sync for any reason, the entire area of your brain which
determines whether you have been satiated is affected.
•Stress: Back to the hormonal steroids effects again. And learned reactions to anxiety, the “nervous eater.”
As you can see there are many ways your body stimulates appetite. Once these pathways are established,
they are strengthened repeatedly throughout your life. Is it any wonder that past attempts to diet by
starvation, counting calories, and altering portion size have failed? Simply put, it is because none of the
physiological or psychological variables that effect appetite have been addressed.

The Fasting- Getting the most out of your healthy choice.

A juice fast for weight loss is an essential first step and can be used intermittently to regain control later
on. The concept is the same in any addiction: You must break the patterns you have created in your
lifetime, reset the hypothalamus thus reestablishing healthier habits to maintain. Do you know anyone that
has quit smoking FOREVER by simply cutting back?  It’s rarely if ever a result.  One must quit “cold turkey”
and have a plan to stay off cigarettes or in this case your normal food intake.

Doing a juice fast for weight loss severs inappropriate appetite stimulation and detoxifies your body in
preparation for better habits and choices. A healthy juice fast should be the initial step in any lifestyle and
diet program. In drug addiction, detoxification programs do the same thing, as juice fasts can do. A juice
fast cleanses your body of the undesired chemicals and breaks the cycle of habitual use. A juice fast
cleanses you gastrointestinal tract of the residue accumulated from years of bad diet, cleanses the
hypothalamus of learned chemical mediators that can increase appetite, and breaks the cycle of eating
habits that led to the weight gain.

At the same time that a juice fast does all the work to decrease your weight quickly due to decreased
caloric intake, and healthier caloric source, it does so on a timeline that allows you the time to consider
what your lifestyle will be, where you will shop, and it gives you the time to become involved with like
minded people for support when you break your fast.

The Details – A step by step how to approach.
Please note the following is for beginners; seasoned veterans of juice fasting should be able to modify the
information to suit their needs.

*Important note: Lemon and lime juice can counter the bitter vegetables like kale and mustard greens,
combinations of fresh juices can work in harmony to increases beneficial effects, and combine multiple
effects.  A healthier choice is to use lemon juice or lime juice rather than the sweeter juices of things like
apples, which have fructose in higher concentrations than lemons/limes.  The sweet (carrots, beets,
apples) may also intensify the bitter in many cases, where as the sour will neutralize it.

Look for a good quality juicer if you are planning of learning how to juice fast for the long term, the time it
takes to juice an adequate amount of juice by hand can make the process a turn off and make it difficult to
justify the process in your mind.

Simple easy to digest vegetables including celery, fennel stalk, and juicy cucumbers can provide excellent
starting points. You won’t get the same density of nutrients as you do with the leafy greens, but the shock
to the system isn’t nearly as bad. After you are tolerant of the above juices you should begin to
incorporate the more nutrient rich veggies. Generally speaking this can be 1-4 days after the start of your
fast.

*Important note: With any major change to a lifestyle or habit, there will be some natural response by your
body to the change.  For instance, you can expect some minor headaches at the start of the first few days,
and certainly some hunger pangs, as you adjust to the situation. Even if you are getting enough calories
your body will not be able to process
time.After you have become sufficiently comfortable with the above juices, and are ready to start moving
into the powerhouses, consider adding a bit at a time or the nutrient rich versions of lettuce (like red and
green leaf, romaine and other leafy varieties).  Avoid iceberg and butter leaf as they are either not useful
or overly expensive.  As well, you can consider adding some of the mild bitters, like endive, but certainly
introduce spinach and cabbages, including the bok choy family and Napa, which is sweet, and has an
interesting flavor profile, red cabbage is also a good candidate, GERD/acid reflux and ulcers are all
reported to be calmed with cabbage extracts, so consider getting that vegetable into the mix if you have
those issues.

Adding herbs for their nutrients and flavor profiles are an interesting choice, but make sure you
incorporate a little at a time, to make sure your body can handle it, and your taste buds will similarly
approve.

If you have made it to this point, somewhere around the ten day mark, you could consider moving into the
next level of vegetables, the true bitters, like red and green kale.  Essentially when it comes to vegetables,
the more vivid and bright the vegetable, the better the concentration of their nutrients (each color of the
rainbow has an association with a nutrient family-orange and yellow fruits and vegetables might indicate
beta carotene and vitamin c, while reds will indicate lycopene and other heart healthy nutrients, etc.), so
choose your vegetables based on the vividness and the concentration of colors as a rule of thumb.  The
best color for most fasts will be green.

Use the following in moderation to improve flavors in your juice drinks: Lemon, Lime, ginger-in moderation,
and cactus apple or cranberry.  The sourer they are, the better they will cut the bitterness of dark greens,
and as a rule of thumb the sourer, the less bad sugars they contain relative to their peers.  Try not to
overdo it though; a high concentration of acid will make for a less enjoyable fast, so go with a moderate
hand.

Juicing Tidbits

•Fruit juices are higher in fructose, a sugar that stimulates and raises blood insulin levels. This will make
you hungry an hour after drinking and could make you feel weak, dizzy and nauseous.
•Vegetable juice has no fat and very little protein.
•Most commercially made vegetable juices are flavored with tomato and are high in sugar and sodium.
•Juice is better absorbed providing more of the vitamins and nutrients than whole vegetables and fruits.
•After a little while on your juice fast for weight loss you will stop feeling hunger as you reprogram your
hypothalamus.
•Do an organic juice fast whenever possible. The residual pesticides and fertilizers act like the chemical
appetite stimulators minimize
How to Break a Cleansing Juice Fast

You may be surprised that breaking a juice fast is more difficult than starting. Keep in mind that your body
has reverted back to a healthier state and likes its new state of being. It is important to realize that
breaking a juice fast for weight loss is as important as the fast itself. The last thing you want to do is jump
back into the bad diet that led you to want to do a juice fast in the first place. Since you have used the time
you were on the juice fast to consider what your new dietary habits will be, and where to shop for better
foods, here are some important things to remember when returning to your new regular diet when you
break your juice fast. Remember that your brain (hypothalamus), stomach and intestines are back to
where they were when you were a baby (theoretically, though with some, this may not be the case
entirely).  A general concept is to start introducing solid foods gently and progressively like you would in a
baby. Remember that during your juice fast for weight loss your intestinal tract was at rest and under
repair. Overloading the system too quickly could be disastrous.

In general try to avoid heavier foods, and certainly don’t introduce gas producing or complex foods which
require the body to work extra hard to extract nutrients, before you are ready for that.  The process of
breaking the juice fast after, perhaps thirty days, may take an addition 6-10 days to bring you back to
normal capabilities-certainly avoid that blue cheese topped porterhouse with French fries.

Ending a juice fast is essentially a way to reintroduce your body to the things which you want it to be
craving, and to ensure that you don’t undo the good things you have done throughout the fast.

•Stay raw for a bit-introduce whole fruits and vegetables to mimic the fruits and vegetables you had in juice
form.  Cucumbers, but also consider tomatoes at this point, their elevated sodium relative to other fruits
and veggies may actually help in the reestablishment process.
•Try eating salads of various make up to determine your body’s tolerance of the foods, and try not to use
heavier dressings, instead try a bit of red wine or apple cider vinegar or some lemon juice as a topper, to
keep your taste buds dancing, but your intestinal tract in harmony.
•Introduce dairy and other animal products very slowly to ensure the lactase levels come back at a natural
and sustainable pace.  Try goat milk products or yogurts when you do introduce dairy, as the levels of
lactose are lower.

anytime you feel hungry. Just put some cabbage, a can of stewed tomatoes and some celery in the
microwave or pot. Cook till soft and then add a can of vegetable broth.

5.Remember to always eat slow, your mind does not register the food for about twenty minutes.

6.Never eat before going to sleep. Try to eat your last meal at least four hours before you go to be.

Fasting Info:
-Distilled water is best for water fasting, please do not use tap water!
-Juice made with fresh, organic fruits is best for juice fasting, especially if they are fresh squeezed.
-Do not drink orange or tomato juice on a fast, these kinds of juices are to acidic to the stomach.
-You can dilute your pure juices with water if you want to lose more weight.
-Green juices made from leafy green veggies in a juicer are great for detoxifying (check out my links for the
cheapest diet products I could find.
-Pure veggie broths are good and beef or chicken for the first couple of days before a full fast is good to
start off with.
-Herbal teas and honey can aid in fasting but be careful when using your honey… go light.
-Typical fasts (going totally without any solid foods) usually are performed as 3 days with an on and off type
of method. Fasting for 7-14 days, should be supervised. Fasting should be done on and off to cleanse the
body.
-Break a fast by eating soft foods such as baby foods, heavy protein drinks, yogurts, soups, and raw fruits
and veggies the first five-seven days after your fast. Go back to solids slowly.
-Do not binge or overeat after the fast. Try to discover the amount of food your body really needs.
-Meditate, go for a walk, take lots of naps, write in your journal, listen to music, go to take a warm bath. This
is your time for healing, losing weight and gaining self-control and getting one step closer to your goals.
More fasting tips:
-After you have fasted, when you start to eat normally try very hard not to gorge yourself on anything. Try to
eat slowly and chew all your food. Wait 20 minutes to see if you are still hungry. The calories you take in
directly after your fast will stay with you a lot longer than those acquired when your metabolism is up. Also,
you could experience pain and become very ill if you start eating again to quickly and in to large of an
amount for your now shrunken stomach.
-Don’t eat a big meal the night before your fast and never end your fast with heavy foods. Start your fast off
with a soup and salad day or protein shake day.
-Dry skin brushing helps your skin to breathe easier and can help eliminate uric acid and other poisons
from your system, taking the strain off your kidneys and liver. Start at the feet and stroke your skin towards
the heart. This is best to be done before and after the shower.
-Epson Salt baths are soothing to sore-achy, weak muscles and also help eliminate toxins through the skin.
Warm Epson Salt baths are great during fasts.
-There are many types of fasts, here is another: The milk and fruit fast: 3x a day, a glass of milk, raw fruit and
water in between.
Water of course is so important. We absolutely must drink water to survive, and it has zero calories, so
there’s no excuse to not drink it. As we typically get much of our water content through foods, when we
reduce food intake we begin to dehydrate ourselves, which is dangerous. Also, cold water chills the body
and may raise metabolism to get warm again.
Vitamins and Minerals are essential for optimal weight loss and well-being. We must have these, too, to
survive and so again there is no excuse to not take at least a basic daily multivitamin. Try taking some
supplements to keep yourself healthy.
Understand yourself. Learn what you need, and when, and why. Everyone is unique and there are no hard-
and-fast universally applicable laws. Our bodies are very good at telling us what we need, and knowing
what you need gives control over how you choose to satisfy those needs. Keep a diary of your food intake.
This will make it easier to figure out if you are hungry or just bored and eating to fill some void. Get plenty
of sleep. Steal naps whenever you can and rest when you need to rest
Sleep deprivation increases appetite and makes you age faster. It is always recommended to get at the
minimum 6hours of sleep a night every night to lose weight faster.
You’ll lose pounds faster if you have a fast metabolism and slower if you have a slower metabolism. On
average, fasts allow you to lose 1-2 lbs per day. Some experience more around 3-5 lbs per day. You’ll lose
the most and the quickest during the beginning of your fast.

3day Fruit Diet
Breakfast:
1 piece of high-carb fruit (banana, large pear, ½ mango)

3 Oz. any lean meat or chicken
1 cup green beans
1 cup carrots

1 Toast
Lunch:
1 cup cottage cheese or tuna 8 regular saltine crackers
Dinner:
2 beef franks
1 cup broccoli or cabbage
1/2 cup carrots
1/2 banana 1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream
Day 3:
Breakfast:
Black coffee or tea w/1-2 packets of Sweet & Low or Equal
5 regular saltine crackers
1 oz. cheddar cheese
1 apple
Lunch:1 boiled egg1 toast Black coffee or tea w/1-2 packets of Sweet & Low or Equal
Dinner:
1 cup tuna 1 cup carrot 1 cup cauliflower
1 cup melon
1/2 cup regular vanilla ice cream

7 day Cabbage Soup Diet or Sacred Heart Diet
The Cabbage Soup Diet also known as the Sacred Heart Diet

The recipe varies slightly, but basically includes a variety of low-calorie vegetables such as cabbage,
onions and tomatoes, flavored with bouillon, onion soup mix and tomato juice. Each day of the
seven-day program has specific foods that must be eaten, including potatoes, fruit juice, many
vegetables, and on one day, beef for best results take all your ingredients and bring them to a low boil
for at the minimum ten minutes for all of the cabbage and tomatoes to join together. Make sure you
chop up all the cabbage, onions, greens, carrots and other veggies you use in very small pieces. You
can also try roasting the vegetables in the broiler first and then bring them to the soup for a smoked
flavor.
Instructions:
Eat as much cabbage soup as you desire for seven days and you can lose 10 to 15 pounds. The recipe
varies slightly, but basically includes a variety of low-calorie vegetables such as cabbage, onions and
tomatoes, flavored with bouillon, onion soup mix and tomato juice. Each day of the seven-day program
has specific foods that must be eaten, including potatoes, fruit juice, many vegetables, and on one day,
beef.

Day One:
Eat only fruit, all the fruit you want except banana.
Drink unsweetened tea, black coffee, cranberry juice and water.
Eat as much soup as you like.

Day Two:
All you want – fresh, raw or cooked vegetables of your choice.
Stay away from dry beans, peas and sweet corn.
Reward yourself with a big baked potato with butter for dinner.
Eat as much soup as you like, but no fruit for today.

Day Three:
Combine days one and two, eat as much fruit, vegetables and soup as you like but no baked potato.

Day Four:
Eat as many as eight bananas and drink as many glasses of skim milk as you would like on this day, along
with your soup.
This day is supposed to lessen your desire for sweets.

Day Five:
You may have 10-20 ounces of beef (300-500g) and a large tin or up to six fresh tomatoes.
Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water this day to wash the uric acid from your body.
Eat your soup at least once today.
You may eat broiled or baked chicken (skinless) instead of beef. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled
fish for the beef.

Day Six:
Eat beef and vegetables today.
You can even have 2 or 3 steaks if you like, with fresh vegetables or salad.
NO BAKED POTATO.
Eat your soup at least once.

Day Seven:
Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables all you want.
Be sure to eat your soup at least once to day.
* Please remember not to eat any bread, alcohol, or carbonated beverages – not even diet soda

After any of these diets you should lose a lot of weight be sure to take your vitamins and minerals and
drink plenty of water and get a full nights sleep.  You go girl… keep up the good work. Nothing tastes as

Here are some great juicer recipes and fruit smoothie recipes to help you get started!

Morning Sunshine Smoothie
2 large oranges
1 red grapefruit
6 frozen strawberries
1/2 banana

Squeeze the juice from the oranges and grapefruit.
Put the juice in a blender and blend with the strawberries and banana.

Watermelon Dream Juice
2 cups cubed watermelon, cold
2 cups cubed cantaloupe, cold
1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled

Pass the ingredients through a juicer.

Strawberry Thirst Quencher Smoothie
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup orange juice
2 tsp. fresh squeezed lemon juice

Put ingredients in a blender.

Carrot Cleanser Juice
4 large carrots
1 stalk of celery
1 apple
handful spinach
juice from 1/2 lemon (optional)
