Ofra Absolute Cover Silk Peptide Foundation

Ofra Absolute Cover Silk Peptide Foundation is quite a luxe foundation, and overall, Ofra was a great brand find at The Makeup Show Orlando!

This foundation comes in a glass bottle with a pump for dispensing the formula:

I received one of the fairer shades to try out, naturally!:

This foundation has great coverage; it’s well pigmented. It applies well and doesn’t highlight my pores; some brands I’ve tried really make my face look like a potholed road! This also evenly applies when I use my fingers to apply it.

Just a total side note, but in my below swatch photos, I still had very bright red hair! I took these photos the first full week of November 2012, after The Makeup Show Orlando! (I probably should have had this review up sooner but wow, time gets away from me sometimes!) I can also tell how much weight I’ve lost, by looking at my face. Right now, I can not get enough of seeing the difference in my before and after. I’ve lost about 20 lbs since these photos were taken!!!

Anyway, I still use the foundation, especially for special days and evenings when I want good coverage; day-to-day I have lately favored a BB Cream and powder. I’m also using Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in rotation with Ofra Absolute Cover Silk Peptide Foundation, which I also love. I’m hoping to review that soon, as well.

Here’s a shot of my face with the foundation in natural light. I’m not wearing any other makeup:

 And indoors with flash:

I like that it covered my blemishes, for the most part (nothing a little cover-up couldn’t take care of before foundation!), and it looked natural enough with a little bit of red peeking through on my cheeks.

This foundation lasts all day, with the exception of on my nose, where EVERYTHING rubs off, eventually, which ticks me off because sometimes my rosacea is bad and you can then see all the red bumps. But a quick touch-up with powder is usually all I need!

This foundation is available through the Ofra site here, and retails for $39.95. The company owner assured me his formula is comparable to the high-end department stores, and I don’t disagree; the formula is pigmented, easy to use and I like the slightly weighted feel of the container, which makes me feel like I’m using something I bought at Nordstrom or Macy’s!

If I buy this again, I would likely try #01, because this one might have been just a tad too dark for me. I don’t mind horribly, because it gives me a little color, but I wouldn’t wear it for something where I knew my pictures were being taken – like my upcoming engagement photo shoot. In the right shade, definitely! but I think you’d see my foundation line on my jaw with this shade.

So have you tried Ofra at all? Are you always on the hunt for the perfect foundation – or what is your Holy Grail?! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
