My go to “I need fun nail design but I don’t have the time to DIY” go-to in recent months has been NCLA Nail Wraps. The designs are genius and they easy to apply and durable.
When I shop with the brand, I typically pick up new Nail Wraps and do not pass go, and do not collect $200. I’m already spending $50 or more! But guys, I HAVE to stop and peruse the nail lacquers, because NCLA founder Elin and crew have been coming out with some hip, California-love colors that make me swoon. Which pretty much describes how I feel about the brand’s fall offering, North of Sunset Collection.
Four lacquers, two shimmery shades and two cremes. Let’s check ‘em out.
The Spa Comes to Me!
The Spa Comes to Me! is a beautiful light army green creme. Kinda reminds me of a green mud or clay mask that you’d use for a spa day! This creme applied like a dream and in two coats it was opaque.
Laurel Canyon Lolita:
Laurel Canyon Lolita is a fuchsia creme. Of all the polishes in the collection, this was the one I wore first. I’m sure it is dupable, but I was hungry for a shade like this and I received many compliments while wearing it! It was very flattering on my fairer skin. She’s shown here in two coats.
Dead-End Gorgeous is a beautiful, glowing violet with lots of violet and dark blue microshimmer – in the bottle you can see blue, purple, green, magenta shimmer. My pictures just don’t do this beautiful polish justice, it’s got more violet than my photos let on. You can’t see the magenta or green shimmers on the nail so much, but the glowy effect of the violet and dark blue shimmer is stunning. Shown here in two coats.
My Dad Invented That:
My Dad Invented That is a complex glitter shade. NCLA started with a black base and LOADED it with silver, gold and other colored glitter (I see green, red, orange, magenta – it’s amazing. It looks like what I imagine the sky would look like if I didn’t live just outside a huge city. So many stars they look like bits of dust across the sky. That’s this nail polish. It’s stunning! This is shown in two coats. Quite opaque!
Overall, I was impressed with application of these polishes, as well as the durability. With a layer of top coat, Dead-End Gorgeous still had the slightest bit of texture to it, so I’d advise a second coat of top coat if you are funny about things like that.
If I were ordering these fresh, without having seen anything but the swatches, I would definitely put Dead-End Gorgeous and My Dad Invented That at the top of my list! You can find the North of Sunset collection here on the NCLA website. The polishes retail for $16 each.
So which polish stands out to you? Would you put the same two at the top of your wish list as I did?! I’d love to know!
