Hey peeps!

Since I’ve started a blog, I’ve been wanting to do a daily hair care post FOREVS but for some reason, I haven’t created one yet! That’s why I’m so excited to share with you my hair care routine today.

Hair is SUPER important to me, and always has been. I’m actually a natural soft brunette, but I love switching my color up. I’ve been blonde for the past two years and love it, although it’s a LOT more work!! It’s funny; I don’t think my blog readers have ever known me as anything BUT blonde!  Check out this post that I wrote last year that shows my crazy hair changes throughout the years! (Spoiler: I miss my purple hair SO MUCH!)

Just for fun, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite products and how I get my loose curls.

Normally, I like to shower the night before. Some people think this is gross, but whatever. I do this because I don’t like drying my hair with a hairdryer (I get bored easily, plus it makes my hair super frizzy.) My hair is pretty damaged from so many color changes…ugh what’s a girl to do!! Because my hair is naturally wavy, it dries wavy, which is great for those soft waves.

Step 1: Shampoo & Conditioner

When I DO shower, (basically never, JK) I use Suave. And I’m not just saying this because this post is sponsored, but I’ve seriously used gone to Walmart to buy Suave products since as long as I can remember. Suave is affordable and proven to work as well as luxury brands. WINNING. I hardly ever splurge on my hair care except for when I’m coloring my hair at a salon. I just don’t have the money to be dishing out $30-$40 on a thing of shampoo, ya know?

I start by washing my hair with Coconut Milk Infusion Deep Moisture Shampoo, lathering it up really good, and rinsing. Then, I apply Coconut Milk Infusion Deep Moisture Conditioner, leaving it in for 3-5 minutes before rinsing. I am loving the Coconut Milk line because it is extremely softening and moisturizing, and it makes my hair smell oh-so good. When I dry my hair, I never wring it out by twisting it. That breaks off the ends, and my hair is already damaged enough from the coloring.

Step 2: (Once a week only): Moisture Mask

On days when I really want to soften up my hair, I replace my shampoo with the Coconut Milk Infusion Intense Moisture Mask, probably about once a week. I’ve been trying super hard to only wash my hair about 3 times a week because I feel like shampoo strips out your natural oils, which isn’t good. I leave the mask in for about 10 minutes and then rinse it out. The mask penetrates hair to deliver 10x more moisture vs. non-conditioning shampoo. The result is silky, shiny, happy hair!

Step 3: Teasing the roots

Now it’s time to prep my hair for curling. Before I tease, I like to use a dab of styling mousse, about the size of a quarter for each side of my head, staying away from my roots (they tend to look greasy if I get the roots). This just makes the hair more workable. Then, to add a little volume, I tease my roots. First of all, I prep the roots by taking 2-3 inches width of hair and spraying it with a bit of hairspray. I hold the hair straight up and comb in a downwards motion to tease. I smooth out the frizzies with a round brush.

Step 5: Curling

Now, it’s time to curl. I use a 1-inch curling iron and loosely spiral the curls around the wand, holding the ends out so they don’t crimp. I start with the bottom of my hair and work my way to the outermost top. I finish by running my hands through my hair and tussling it to give that beachy look. I finish by using a lightweight hairspray. I’d like to someday make a video to show you my technique; it’s so hard to show you via a blog post!

After curling, I run my fingers through it a little bit to break up those ring-like curls. I want the look to be more natural than high-maintenance.

And voilà! I love wearing my hair like this. It usually only takes me 20 minutes!

There you have it! This is my daily hair-care routine. Be sure to visit your local Walmart to try out all of the new 2016 Suave Professionals collections: Coconut Oil Infusion, Coconut Milk Infusion and Biotin Infusion, while supplies last.
