JESSICA – A Night at the Opera Fall 2022

I’ve been dreading the end of summer so much!

This is the first summer in a long time where I’ve been able to wear strapless dresses and even a bikini! I am disappointed that the cooler weather will creep in and I’ll have to put those dresses into my close until next May or June! It makes me sad!

But even though I’m not ready to hang up my sundresses, I’m ready to wear the darker, bolder nail polish shades of fall 2013! I have gotten in a lot of fall collections, and there are some standouts that I just can’t wait to sport, like JESSICA Cosmetics’ new A Night at the Opera collection, which features six rich, deep and pigmented shades for the season.

How about some swatches?!

Velvet & Pearls:

Velvet & Pearls is a black crème. JESSICA describes is as a tuxedo black and a ”brand new definition of black.” This is a great black, but also a great base for a lot of the top coat glitters and iridescent top coats, including JESSICA’s own Effects line.

Prima Donna:

Prima Donna is nothing like what my photo shows, unfortunately. I looked at my dozens of pictures and none even come close to the violet purple shimmer that is Prima Donna. This shows it much more blue than it actually is.

Overture is a copper with golden shimmer. It’s a nice fall standard that reminds me of autumn leaves and fire pits. Beautiful, but not my favorite in this collection.

Opening Night:

Opening Night is a JESSICA’s take on the popular fuchsia shimmer  polish we’re seeing across different collections this year (Zoya, Orly, for example). It’s a very glowy polish!

Blue Aria:

Blue Aria is a dark blue crème. JESSICA describes it as a cobalt but this is a bit darker than a cobalt blue I’m used to. This is the kind of vampy shade I love for fall and winter.

Standing Ovation:

Standing Ovation is a green that has a blue shift – can you see it in my photos? This was one of the standout colors for me from the collection when I saw it at Cosmoprof in July. It’s beautiful in person, especially in the shade, when it looks more duochrome.

Overall, these lacquers are highly-pigmented, rich, and make for a beautiful fall selection of colors. The application was good on all of them. I used two coats for each polish.

The theme of the collection, A Night at the Opera, reflects a personal interest of brand founder and CEO, Jessica Vartoughian. “I love the opera for its passion and its spectacular twists and turns – anything is possible,” she said in a press release. “We have captured that same spirit in our new collection.”

JESSICA polishes retail for $8.40 on the website. These are available soon, but aren’t there yet. Here’s where the latest collections are listed on the site. The collection will also be available at salons and spas internationally.

So what do you think of A Night at the Opera? Do you like the theme as well as the polishes? Are you ready for fall?!
