(NOTD for day 2: Barielle Green Apple Chew, from the Sweet Treats Collection)

Day two of the International Beauty Show (IBS) and International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference (IECSC) was a bit more laid back for me than day one!

I met up with Casey from Beauty 101, and experiencing the show with her was different – she comes at beauty from an industry professional’s point of view! Here we are together right before we said goodbye:

We had to get a picture, we were both wearing coral pants and black tops, LOL! We didn’t plan that, but it was really funny that it worked out that way!

One of the first places Casey and I stopped was Kashi Shears for Professionals.

While she inspected the different shears to make a purchase, I listened to the vendor share his thoughts on one over the other, different handles, lengths and steel type. To say that I had no idea how important a good pair of shears is to a hair stylist is an understatement. I watched Casey pretend to cut hair as she figured out which pair suited her best.

We made a stop at Morphe Brushes.

We both picked up some new beauty tools here. A good brush is so important!

As we wandered, we also came upon the Tangle Teezer booth.

This brush has super thin bristles that are flexible so that it gently detangles hair.

In the IECSC exhibit hall, we found some nice gel eyeliners called Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner from Cailyn:

The brand also has Tinted Lip Balm – I put one on my hand and it felt like a balm but stayed like a lip stain. I want to explore this brand more in the future!

After Casey left, I took one more walk around the hall.

I learned about Colorevolution, which reminded me a lot of Naked Cosmetics. Which coincidentally, was not too far away! They showed me that their pigments can work wet or dry as shadow, and can mix with lip balm.

In that last photo, I’ve got a brown shadow applied dry, then wet below, and a pink pigment mixed with a balm for a gloss at the bottom right.

They were nicely priced, but I made myself walk away. It was hard! I love the vibrancy of the colors and the duochrome quality some of them had.

I did make a purchase that was needed. Nail art! I needed some gold and silver studs. So I stopped by a booth called #1 Lash, and I picked up some silver, gold and white square studs.

Check out all the loose nail jewelry, gems and fimo that they had!

Finally, here’s some random observations from around the show floor:

A stylist cuts on hair on the Keratin Complex stage.

Beautiful, theatrical makeup underway at the Make Up For Ever Academy booth. I wish I’d seen the end result!

This was another cut on the Keratin Complex stage later in the day. You can see the crowd of people gathered to watch this stylist at work.

I have so much more to share with you from the show, I hauled there, too, so I’ll have posts on brands and products I picked up along the way. I’ve got PLENTY to keep me busy between IMATS and IBS/IECSC!

I won’t be attending the show on its final day, April 16. I actually have to get some blood work done, work a half day, and then start prep for a colonoscopy on Wednesday. I’ve been having some issues, but hopefully we’re near to figuring out what’s going on. My doc is actually testing me for Celiac Disease in addition to the colonoscopy. So hopefully soon, I’ll have answers and a course to set upon so my issues lessen or go away!

Oh! Before I go! I’ll leave you with my eye of the day!

You can see where my eye shadow got a little washed away from the tearing my eye did (I walked to an from the show, and it was a bit windy…my eyes are so sensitive!) But you’ll notice the liner stayed in place. Check THIS POST and enter for your chance to win this liner and a bunch of other good prizes!

Anyway – I used Jesse’s Girl Eye Dusts in Peek-a-Boo, Pink Glitz and Secret Weapon, the new Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner and Maybelline MegaPlush Mascara. On the rest of my face, I used Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation, Laura Geller Balance-n-Brighten Foundation in Fair, MAC Cosmetics Beauty Powder in Briar Rose, and NYX Color Lip Balm in Asante. I was also listening to music on the train and the people around me were probably judging me for taking selfies.

Also, I found out about the explosions at the Boston Marathon while I was on the train. I saw something about it on social media, but didn’t learn more until I got closer to home in my car. I tuned into news radio and caught up. I rushed home and turned on the TV, and didn’t move for hours. I was worried about my old running group, which has several members running in the Boston Marathon each year, and I was just plain horrified by what has happened. It reminded me of the major, horrifying moments of my life. Like the Oklahoma City Bombings and 9/11. My thoughts are with everyone affected – those who were victims, those who love them, those who saw things, those who love them, the first responders, fire and police and reporters too; and those who love them. I hope they find out who is responsible quickly and justice is served.
