Final 2022 Weekly Roundup of Teal Toes
I’ve got one more weekly roundup of Teal Toes for you this week, and today is your last chance to enter my Color Club OCRF giveaway (More deets on that below!)
Let’s start with Robie’s Teal Toes:
Robie used a mixture of Revlon Ocean and NYC East Village to get her perfect teal shade.
She said, “When my mother was first diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer, of course we were all devastated. She was given three years to live! When she reached the sixth year we all started to change. We all started to see a small bit of humor in all this sadness. We would laugh out loud when my mother would wear a Scarlett red wig to her city council meetings, only to get an abundance of compliments from unlikely sources. It wasn’t until we heard about the “Teal Toe” project that we got our true source of joy during this time of heartache! September couldn’t come soon enough for my mother. She wore those blue/green donned toes with great pride. Proud to tell all about her battle. I, in contrast was not so eager. See I had never had a pedicure. And I was not eager to discuss the one thing that hung deep in my subconscious . My mother’s mortality. I, however, followed my hero’s lead and donned my ugly teal toes.
My mother lost her fight with ovarian cancer 12/28/2010. What a fight it was! She never let it keep her down until her last 2 weeks. I stayed away from all things cancer the first year after she died because I was I was so angry. Now I am back and I am AM ANGRY AT OVARIAN CANCER!! I now don some really ugly teal toes !”
While the picture might not be totally clear, you toes aren’t ugly, Robie! They are gorgeous for awareness. I’m sorry for your loss and I appreciate that you have shared your story with us.
Elise’s Teal Toes:
Elise used OPI Austin-Tatious Turquoise. She said she’s “happy to raise awareness for any type of cancer as it has affected my life and the lives of my loved ones in so many ways. I have had several great aunts lose their battle with ovarian cancer.”
Thank you for sharing your story, your toes and your willingness to raise awareness for any cancer!
Yulia’s teal mani:
Yulia is from Moscow, Russia, runs the blog Vicerimus: an outlet for a girl’s addiction to nail polish and nail art,
and submitted her teal – Nubar Stylish Peacock, gorgeous! – with this story:
“I’ve been wearing teal a lot this month. Many people have noticed that and asked me why, and apart from teal/turquoise being my favorite color(s), it also draws attention to the horrible issue that is cancer, ovarian cancer in general, and I think i’ve managed to do it.
Awareness is a huge problem in Russia. We do have some cancer awereness associations, but not many know about them. Luckily, I don’t know anyone who’s suffering from ovarian cancer, however, I lost my beloved grandfather to lung cancer just two days after I finished school, and even if it hadn’t happened, I’d still be happy to raise awareness about any form of cancer as one of the greatest misfortunes of the human race.”
Thank you for participating in my roundup to raise awareness, Yulia. So sorry for the loss of your grandfather. And also – love your swatches on your blog!
Christine’s teal mani for awareness:
Christine, who runs the fashion blog, The Tiny TieRant, used Essie’s Trophy Wife. Teal is one of her favorite colors to wear and Christine said, “I’m glad that it is aligned with Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. It is a great cause that I am happy to be a part of. It’s a great feeling knowing that I am able to help just by painting my nails– an ordinary task made extraordinary!”
Agreed, Christine, it’s nice to feel like we’re making a difference by doing this!
