Cosmoprof 2022: NCLA Overview and Lacquer Review

I’ve been hearing a lof buzz about NCLA online – on Instagram and Twitter – and I’ve been dying to try the brand’s nail wraps! I was excited to see the NCLA booth at Cosmoprof North America (held in Las Vegas July 22-24), to see if I could find out more about the wraps and the brand in general!

Right now, the young brand – it’s been around since February 2011 – has 21 nail colors, but will increase to 27 when it launches its fall collection in about two-three more weeks. There are also more than 30 designs of nail wraps, with more than 40 after the fall release. Here’s some photos of the wraps:

Before I was even done prepping this post, I went online and ordered three nail wraps – Gemstone, Mission to Mars and Fiercely Independent, along with the Gloss It base and top coat. I’m really looking forward to trying these out! Also, shipping was free because I spent more than $50.

In its nail polish line, the brand has some great launches in the coming months. Here’s a look at some of the fall polishes:

That blue and green look gorgeous!

There are also holiday sets, that will include one exclusive polish per set:

The set on the left, Glitz, will have an exclusive rose-colored shattered glitter polish (in the middle of the three). Ritz, on the right, will include an exclusive pink foil (also in the middle of the three).

Elin, director of sales for the brand, told me that NCLA was born out of a desire to produce a nail wrap that was more accessible and cheaper than the popular Minx, as well as in touch with the fashion world. These nails are accessories! For $16 a package, you can get three to four manicures, she said. Nail polish was a natural next step, and the brand has gotten a ton of positive publicity all around – hence all the buzz I’ve been hearing and seeing online!

Elin sent me off with a bottle of their most popular color, Poolside Party, All Eyes on Me!, and it was one of the first manis I did when I got home from Vegas.

When I first saw this color out of the box, I thought it was just a peachy polish. But once I applied it and saw it, I fell in love. It’s a really pretty, light, neon orange! It’s quite gorgeous. This is shown in three coats. I probably could have left it at two, but I felt it needed the third. It applied thickly.

This mani lasted two days before I had to take it off to swatch a couple things. I was disappointed to take it off. It only chipped on two nails, very minor. I was impressed with that wear, because as you know if you follow, I change almost every day!

Poolside and NCLA’s other polishes retail for $16 on their website. Gloss It, the base/top coat, is $11.

I made the nail wrap purchase, but I will be purchasing nail polish in the future! I am after those holiday sets, for sure! The brand is available in Nordstrom and Urban Outfitters as well as the online store.

So what about you, have you heard buzz about NCLA? Have you tried their product? What do you think? Share your thoughts, I’d love to hear them!
