Color Club‘s fall collection takes me a bit by surprise with its color choices – coral and lilac for fall? Say what?!
Here’s a photo of the collection display:
I don’t have the entire collection to review for you, just a couple of the polishes, but what I’ve seen of this collection overall is a mix of transitional and fall shades, with this season’s staple dark blue, and antique gold – a great accent color for the season – mixed with a fun, season-less flakie and pale grey shade, and a very spring/summer coral and lilac.
So what about that coral?!
East Austin is a creme, a bright pop of coral color. Surprising, but a nice change of pace when you get used to wearing this season’s blues and purples! This is shown in two coats. The second photo is a better color shot; in the first photo you can see how my camera freaked out in the sun with this polish!
The Uptown is a purple jelly loaded with color-shifting flakies. I used two coats by itself, but I would wear this over a purple or blue polish, for more opacity (I think this looks far better in the shade than the sunlight!). This feels like a season-less polish, something I’d wear all year-round without blinking an eye!
I can’t complain about the formula on these two polishes, and they look great.
Of the polishes I don’t have from Girl About Town, I’m most curious about Pearl District, the antique gold polish. I’m not particularly interested in the lilac, Wicker Park, because the color just feels dupable and too spring-like for me. For fall, I probably would have skipped East Austin, too. I’m wanting vampy shades right now, even if I can appreciate what Color Club did by choosing this coral.
These two polishes, and the rest of the Girl About Town collection, are available for $8 each on the Color Club website here. I usually buy Color Club from Victoria Nail Supply (website) or at my local beauty supply shop. You can also pick them up from the Color Club site as duos, $12 a pack, three packs, and that way you get a $2 discount per bottle. The Uptown and East Austin are in one duo pack, if you’re interested!
So what do you think about The Uptown and East Austin? Are you interested in either? Are there any other colors in the collection that pique your interest? I’d love to hear your thoughts on Color Club’s choice of including a couple of spring/summery shades in this six-piece collection!
