There are three types of products that even when I find a “Holy Grail,” I keep going back to try different ones to see if I like something else better. Those types of products are:

  • Facial moisturizer
  • Mascara
  • Foundation

Anyone else out there the same way as me?!

My latest foundation experiment is with Ardency Inn Americana Custom Coverage Concentrate, a concentrated foundation that you can add to your moisturizer to create a coverage as sheer or pigmented as you’d like. Use it as a tinted moisturizer, use it as a concealer.

I received Custom Coverage Concentrate in Light Pink Beige for review:

The dispenser is a pump, and I found it neat and easy to use. A little bit can go a long way, and it dispenses a modest, but perfect amount:

Here’s the ingredients:

Here’s what Ardency Inn says about Custom Coverage Concentrate on its website:

  • “Pure mineral pigments ensure true-to-color application
  • Beta Carotene evens skin tone
  • Silica gives soft focus effect to blur imperfections
  • Chronospheres optically reflect light to even and brighten skin tone
  • Highly concentrated formula: 1 bottle of AMERICANA Custom Coverage Concentrate = 2 bottles of liquid foundations
  • Sheer to full coverage depending on “Concentrate to moisturizer” ratio
  • Ideal for all skin types
  • Natural finish
  • Made in USA
  • 0.5 fl. oz”

So how did it do?

The first moisturizer I used with this product was not a water-based moisturizer, and it was too thick. The combined products were flaking off my face. But the look was nice:

The second time, it worked out much better. Using a water-based moisturizer, I mixed the right amount and applied it with a foundation brush:

It wears on me pretty similarly to other Holy Grail foundations I have.

So what about some of the claims?

I do find that I require less of the concentrate than I would need of one of my other liquid foundations for a full face, so I believe the statement that this bottle is equivalent to two bottles of foundation.

I like the flexibility of using this as sheer or as full coverage as you want. I like somewhere in between most days, to hide the imperfections of my eczema and rosacea. So it is truly a versatile product.

When I receive compliments on my makeup, it’s usually my lips or eyes. But I did receive a compliment on my skin tone once while wearing Customer Coverage Concentrate, from a colleague.

Custom Coverage Concentrate retails for $38 and can be purchased through the Ardency Inn shop (linked to in the opening sentences of the post) or through

So I received this, I tried it, but would I buy it for myself? If I’m being honest, no. I probably will not buy this in the future. While I liked the flexibility of coverage, I received compliments wearing it, and a little goes a long way…I don’t like the extra step of mixing my moisturizer with the concentrate to get to my color when usually in the mornings before work I’m rushing off and trying to get my face decent. Which is probably stupid, because I take the time to put on moisturizer, then foundation. I even use a skin primer (this I WILL buy again!). Also, at this point, in winter, I prefer my moisturizer that is not water-based, that is thicker, but it’s just not compatible with this concentrate. I think this will be a better option for me in summer, when I need a lighter moisturizer.

Have you tried Custom Coverage Concentrate yet? What do you think? Is this something that you’d love?!
