Wanderlust // n. A strong desire to travel and roam about the Earth.

I know a lot of people think it’s cheesy, but I’m obsessed with the word wanderlust. I just think the pronunciation of the word itself is beautiful, and the symbolism behind it speaks volumes to who I am a person. I love it so much that I am even debating about getting it tattooed on my bicep.

I never thought that I would end up being someone who enjoys traveling so much. I never “planned” on traveling so much when I was younger, but now that I have started, I can vouch to the fact that traveling truly is addictive. Trevor and I are beginning to prepare for our biggest road trip yet this August to finish our 50 State Sign Challenge, and I could not be more excited. It will be a two week long road trip where I will get to check off visiting some of my most treasured bucket list items, such as seeing Yellowstone, sitting in a hot springs, visiting Seattle and staying a night in Vegas. Guys. I can’t even.

That being said, here in Wisconsin it’s 45 degrees, the grass is brown, there are still dirty banks of snow in the ditches, and well….you could say that I need a little travel therapy. AKA: I can’t wait to get the hell outta here for a while. But in the meantime, I’ll have to occupy myself until August rolls around. Maybe some day when you read my blog I’ll be a full time travel writer and I’ll have a new adventure for you every day, but for now….. #goals.

I love meeting others who have a passion for adventure. One of my goals within this blog is to cultivate a community of inspiring wanderlusters who encourage one another to see the world and experience new cultures, even if you have never travel before. I’ve met so many fabulous travelers all over the world through my Instagram, and I would love some day meet up with a likeminded, travel-obsessed individual that I know merely through my internet community for coffee.

Do we have this love for adventure in common? Think you have incurable wanderlust? These 10 signs will diagnose you in a heartbeat.

1.) You hate routines

You crave a life anything but normalcy. The more you grow as a person, the more you realize that there is so much more out there than the simple life you live. You want to get out and see other cultures, other places, other ways of living. You grew too comfortable with your overly- routine way of life, and starting craving travel. If you stay in one place for too long, you get anxious.

2.) You are never NOT planning for a trip

You are barely off the plane before you start planning your next place of adventure. I can vouch to the fact that as soon as we get home from a trip, within a week Trevor is Google Mapping out our next trip.

3.) You appreciate cultures that are different from your own

You have grown to appreciate different cultures- whether it’s a simply heading to the opposite end of the country where the dialect is different to experiencing cultures half a world away. You eat that shiz up and learn to appreciate others’ differences.

4.) You find yourself following a plethora of travel bloggers and travel accounts on Instagram for inspiration

It’s a love/hate relationship because you’re insanely jealous of seeing people in places you’ve never been to. Sidetone: If you need a little inspiration, check out this list of 15 Travel-Inspired Instagram Accounts You’ll Love.

5.) You obsess over your own travel photos

You just can’t get enough of reminiscing about your adventures. You find yourself posting every #TravelTuesday, #WanderlustWednesday, #ThrowbackThrusday, and #FlashbackFriday. (#SorryNotSorry.)

6.) You value experiences over materialistic things

All of your spending money goes to travel-related expenses. Whether it’s a plane ticket, fuel for your vehicle, or another lens for your camera, you have no shame spending your money on these sorts of things. You value experiences over materialist items anyways.

7.) You become oddly obsessed with globes of all kinds, and other travel-related decor

You can’t help but buy a globe whenever you see it. It needs a home!  (OH and BBs!!! I’m about to share something so secretive with you!!! Most of you know that I’m engaged and am currently planning my wedding. Welp what if I told you that it’s a travel-themed wedding?! (!!!!!!)  I’m so excited to share with you the planning deets as it gets closer. Stay tuned!) P.S. If you want you fill of other travel decor inspo, check out this post!

8.) People often ask you, “Where you off to next?”

Whether people love your adventurous life or roll their eyes at it, they recognize that you don’t do the whole “sit it one place for too long” kinda thing. Trevor and I get this question often whenever we are hanging out at a bar or are out to eat in town.

9.) You are a risk taker

You learn things by doing and are have learned to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations. Everything you ever wanted is on the other side of fear.

10.) You wouldn’t trade your adventurous, crazy life for nothing.

You ARE a romantic wanderluster. You are in an open relationship with the world, and you wouldn’t trade it for anything.
